Hey Everyone,

Happy Monday!  I wanted to share another recipe with you that I recently made this weekend~ it’s awesome! Along with this, I wanted to share another passion of mine with you… If you don’t know this about me already, I find it very difficult to stick with one hobby!  So, now I am really into photography, I love it!  I love looking at photos people have taken, and I love to take pictures myself.  Now, I am no photographer, so don’t ask me to shoot your wedding or anything 🙂  But I am really enjoying the art.  And I do take all of the Y.Lo pictures, which is super fun!

The Recipe: Chinese Chicken Wings                                                                                                                                                                         I really love these wings.  It is a family recipe that I have tweaked over the years, but they are just like a wing should be, full of flavor, messy, and delicious!


  • 3 Pounds Chicken Wings
  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Sherry
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • dash of Worcester Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Chopped Ginger
  • Sriracha Sauce (if you are like me, add about 1 tablespoon to make it spicy! Or tone it down by adding less)
  • 3 tablespoons Chopped Scallions

Mix all of the ingredients (except the scallions) together and marinate the chicken.  For the best results, marinate in the refrigerator over night.  Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Place the chicken wings on a baking sheet with aluminum foil (they are messy, save yourself from the cleanup!) and bake for 40 minutes to 1 hour, until they are sticky and crispy.  Garnish with the Scallions.  Enjoy~!

Hi There!

I wanted to say a little something about networking today, since it is something that I do all the time!! When I ask people to meet with me, I will always offer to meet at a coffee shop.  And I will admit, I try to find anything but a Starbucks!  I like to give my business to small companies, since I work for one as well!  Now don’t get me wrong, coffee is a great thing to do in order to network! BUT, there are so many other fun things to do around this town, why not check them out with a new person and share the experience together?

The most obvious is Cocktails!  Which might be my favorite way to network!  Not only is it great to meet with someone for Happy Hour after a long day, but it really helps you unwind, which in turn will help the other person unwind and open up!  I find that the most personal conversations take place at Happy Hour!

Another fun thing to do (all the ladies out there!) is to go get Mani/Pedi’s together! This is another wonderful way to relax!  And, if anyone is like me, they really look forward to their meetings like this.  I actually get an hour break to sit back in a chair and talk.  If I did it at a nail salon, it is even better!

Something that was brought to my attention from a client of ours was Canvas and Cocktails.  It sounds awesome, right?! I have not checked it out yet, but am looking forward to it!  Ultimately, it brings me to my point that there are so many fun things to do around this city.  Whether you do meet at a fun coffee shop, or a new local spot, Taco Tuesday’s, or whatever you can possibly think of, have fun with it!!  Enjoy the time that you have to meet with new people, and make it interesting.  In turn, they will be excited to meet with you and do something fun.

Hi Everyone,

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Only in Colorado can we go from a beautiful 80 degree day, to a snowy, cold and wet day!   I remember when I first moved here and heard someone say, “if you don’t like the weather, wait a couple of hours.”  That is very true!

The weather is actually something we take very seriously at Y.Lo Epicure.  Being on-time is one of our biggest priorities!  Which leads me to the reason for this post, How Y.Lo Takes the Fear Out of Catering.  It is part of our slogan campaign.  If you didn’t already know the 2 we currently use: We’re So Good You’ll Eat Us Up!  And the other, Have You Hugged Your Caterer Today?  Each of these really showcases the company we are.  We care, we are friendly, smiling, and will always go the extra mile! Plus, our food is amazingly wonderful, which always makes it easy to work with us!  Food makes people happy, therefore we make people happy!

There were a few people who really made my day within the past few months, here are some of the things they said:

“I couldn’t believe how tender that Wellington was, when you think catering, you don’t think the food is going to be good, not like that!  It was absolutely perfect!”

“I have worked with most of the big caterers in Denver, and I was impressed.”

“You guys rock!”

Y.Lo Epicure is made up of a very close and passionate group of women.  It is a special dynamic that we have created, and we want everyone who becomes part of the Y.Lo Family, to feel excited, comfortable, and at ease working with us!  We love to go the extra mile, we always have great portion sizes, we have an easy ordering and billing process, we always provide the best products with outstanding presentation, and whoever delivers your meal will be there to help in anyway with a smile on their face!

I think the reason we have such a great track record with our clients is because of the consistency in every order.  I think that is so important, and we have proven this time and again.  We have clients who have been working with us for 9 years now!  Did you know that when Lisa purchased the business, she did not change chefs?  Yolonda has been there since the beginning! She has been cooking for you at Y.Lo Epicure for the whole 9 years! And for Denver for over 26 years! Yolonda is truly a great chef, and we are so lucky to have her on our team!

Along with this, and the reason I love my job so much is because we are fun to work with!  I love the clients we have, and most of them are already, or are in the process of becoming my friends!  It is such a wonderful feeling going into work, and that is because of the people who have made Y.Lo successful.  So thank you to all of you!
