Hi Everyone,

If you were not aware, my boss and owner of Y. Lo Epicure, recently got married last weekend!  It was such a beautiful event, and Lisa was glowing the entire time!  I was so happy to be a part of the planning process and to see her wedding come to life.

Getting there was not so easy.  I could not believe it when my car decided to just stop right before the Eisenhower Tunnel.  I started shaking, pulled the car over and turned off the engine.  As my boyfriend was dialing AAA, I started my car back up, and it worked!  I have no idea how, but I made it!  Such a great start to the day, uggh!

When I arrived everyone was doing what they needed to, the tables were being set up, the food was being prepared by our wonderful kitchen crew, and I got to work myself.  The menu was family style, which is perfect for a formal wedding with lots of family.  Now if you do not know this already, Lisa has 6 sisters!! It is a VERY big family. We served Chicken Marsala, Beef Tenderloin, Roasted Potatoes, and Asparagus.

Take a look at our Chef Yolonda’s Flow Table!

We served our most delectable appetizers for everyone to enjoy after the ceremony.  Can you believe this table, what a show stopper!  Along with a full bar, it was a perfect way to start the night!

So Lisa is a little strange, she does not like cake!  I certainly cannot believe it, but what a way to be different at your wedding.  She had an ice cream bar instead, it was a huge hit, and so much fun!

To add to everything that was already so amazing, Lisa and Dax also hired a band for the event!  The 6 Million Dollar Band to be precise.  They are awesome, we all danced the night away and it will surely be a night that we all will never forget!  Congratulations to Dax and Lisa on your marriage!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Yes, Lisa’s wedding is THIS Saturday!  Of course she is out and about right now, doing deliveries, and not taking time for herself!  She has not packed, nor has she had time think about leaving for a couple of weeks!  However, we are all set for the weeks to come!  One of the things she told me when she hired me was that the last time she went on vacation, she had her computer with her on the beach for the majority of the time!  I could not believe it!  So I am sooo excited for her to be getting married and then flying off to Hawaii without her computer!!

Stay tuned for my post next week!  I am going to post pictures and details from the wedding!

As for me, I have been just waiting for the craziness to start!  Well, I should correct that, I am waiting for the craziness to be over!  It has been going on for quite some time, and probably won’t stop until September 🙂  But I am gearing up for handling all of the Y. Lo Epicure business while Lisa is gone.

I of course have been doing cupcakes and cakes, here are the latest:

Besides that, I have been in my own kitchen a lot lately, coming up with fun new flavors and fun things for cakes and MORE! So far, it has been extremely dangerous on my figure.  Gaining 5 lbs. in one week because of sweets, not my proudest moment. However, it is the price I must pay, and the price is absolutely delicious!! My boyfriend is also paying the price, but he couldn’t be happier, we are sweets people!

Stay tuned for what’s to come, it will be sweet, but it’s a treat, and so much fun for us to eat!

Hi Everyone,

I am so happy that I attended Impact 105 last Thursday.  It was an eye opening experience hearing the statistics of child abuse in this country.  But also hearing from someone who spent their childhood in the foster care system.  He is now working in Denver and helping children succeed everyday.  I urge those of you who have not heard about these two organizations to visit their website and get involved, even if it is in a small way, everything counts when it comes to children!

During the event we were also given some insight into Propositions 60, 61 & 62.  Specifically to vote NO on these due to their ability to cut the budget for organizations just like Tennyson Center.  When these propositions come out, they are clearly going to cut spending where there is no voice heard, and that is immediately linked to children.  They cannot vote, and they need us to look out for their best interests and stop budget cuts to important programs that save lives.  Please do what you can to get the right information regarding these 3 propositions.  If you are interested in reading the fact sheet that was given to all attendees, I would be more than happy to send that to you.  You can contact me at nina@yloepicure.com.  Thank you to everyone who has shown their support so far!

Wedding Bliss!

Hi Everyone,

August has been fantastic for Y. Lo so far!  We had a very successful wedding that I ran this past weekend.  First, I had a breakfast for 80 people that I delivered by myself.  I have now been with Y. Lo for 4 months, so this was a big day for me!  I was sooo happy that it was for the morning though.  I was running around like a crazy person all day!  I started at 8 am and did not get home until 11:00 pm!  It was a long day, but soooo worth it.

I believe that people can tell a lot about a catering company based on their performance at a wedding.  This was the most laid back, friendly, and fun wedding I have ever catered!  Not only did the entire wedding party help with the set-up and tear-down of the room, but they were all so fun to be around!  I have never seen a dance floor fill up that fast in my entire life.  I have been to A LOT of weddings, and these folks did not stop dancing until the very last minute!  Now, I am a dancing fool at heart, so this made me so happy to see everyone enjoying themselves so much.

I think the one reason we do such a great job is because of our passion.  I am a romantic at heart.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WEDDINGS!  I won’t lie to you, I had to hold back the tears when the bride walked down the aisle, and I had only met her in person a few weeks before!

Everything went so well and we got the feedback we love so much on our food.  I think that is also the one reason why I love my job so much.  When someone tells me how wonderful everything tasted, and how on top of everything the service staff was, it brings joy to my heart.  If I were to hire a caterer, pay them for their services, I would want to receive exactly what we do here at Y. Lo.  We are truly dedicated to our work!
